Jadeja stars as India thrash Lanka

Cuttack:Tendulkar hit a superbly-paced 96 not out to steer India to an easy seven-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the third one-dayer in Cuttack to take a 2-1 lead in the five-match series.

Sachin struck 13 fours in his 104-ball knock to help India achieve a 240-run target with more than seven overs to spare in the day-night game at Cuttack.

Earlier, Ravindra Jadeja's brilliant bowling helped India to restrict Sri Lanka to 239 runs. Jadeja finished with a career-best 4-32 off 10 tight overs. He was named man of the match.

Winning the toss and electing to bat, tourists were 165/1 at one stage, but they lost their last nine wickets for just 74 runs.

Tillakaratne Dilshan gave Sri Lanka another blistering start as the islanders whizzed past 50 in 3.4 overs. Dilshan's 18-ball 41 had as many as 10 hits to the fence.

Tharanga and Sangakkara added 100 runs for the second wicket.

After the departure of Tharanga (73) and Sangakkara (46), Sri Lankan batsmen lost their way and bowled out for 239 in 44.2 overs.

Ishant Sharma and Ashish Nehra took 2 wickets each. Harbhajan Singh was the other bowler to impress, conceding 29 off nine overs for one wicket.

Chasing the modest target set by Sri Lanka, India made a solid start, with stand-in captain Virender Sehwag smashing a 28-ball 44 with nine fours in a 55-run stand for the opening wicket with Tendulkar.

India capitalised on the start as Tendulkar added 72 for the second wicket with Gautam Gambhir (32) and 73 for the unfinished fourth wicket with Dinesh Karthik (36 not out) to steer his team home.
