Mumbai: Maharashtra Government on Monday congratulated Sachin Tendulkar for his achievements saying he has brought glory and pride to India and Maharashtra. A letter congratulating the master blaster would be sent by the legislature secretariat in a few days.
Leader of the House, Chief Minister Ashok Chavan moved a resolution saying Tendulkar has made Maharashtra proud by playing 20 years of International Cricket.
Tabling the motion in assembly, Chief Minister said that Tendulkar was a vikramveer as success chased him and not vice-versa. "Even the great Australian cricketer Steve Waugh has compared Sachin with the legendary batsman Don Bradman. In his 20-year career, he has always maintained high standards, which is rare,"
Opposition Leader Eknath Khadse (BJP) joined Chief Minister in complimenting the ace batsman and wished him success.
Though many members cutting across the party lines were eager to speak on the subject, Speaker Dilip Walse Patil did not allow anyone and house unanimously passed the resolution amidst thumping of desk.
