Mirpur: Dilshan (104 off 122) starred as Sri Lanka cruised to a 7-wicket win with 5 overs to spare against Bangladesh in the opening match of the Idea Cup on Monday at Dhaka
A patient 75 from Mohammad Ashraful lifted Bangladesh from a dire 72 for 4 to a respectable 260/7 in the opening match of the Idea Cup on Monday at Dhaka.
Ashraful faced 94 boundaries and hit six boundaries in his innings.
Tamim Iqbal (40) and Imrul Kayes (23) put on 65 for the opening wicket, but the home side wilted as Sri Lanka's bowlers struck back in style.
From 65 for no loss the home side had slipped to 74 for four when former captain Ashraful and Rahim came together, the duo arresting the slide with a 58-run stand for the fifth wicket.
Ashraful was run out in the penultimate over but Naeem Islam produced a few pyrotechnics in the end with his power hitting as they plundered 20 off the final over.
