New Delhi: Shiv Sena won"t allow Australian players to play in Maharashtra in the backdrop of attacks on Indians in Australia.
'No Australian players will be allowed to play in Maharashtra till the attacks are stopped on Indians'
Shiv Sena patriarch Bal Thackeray wrote in the party mouthpiece Saamna.
Thackeray blamed Indian players for what he called their lack of self-respect and love for the country. He said it was shameful that Indian cricketers maintained sporting relations with Australia.
"Our boys are being stabbed, burnt and shot at in that country and still our cricketers have no qualms in playing with them. Do they have any national pride?".
Shivsena chief also had a word of praise for Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan who refused an award announced by Queen"s Land University in Australia to protest against the attacks on Indians. “I will be very happy, when our cricketers also show spirit like this," Thackeray said.
Shiv Sena had earlier taken similar stand against Pakistani players in the back of November 26 terror attacks in Mumbai.
