Heart break for K'taka in Ranji finals

Mysore: Mumbai retained Ranji Trophy title as they beat Karnataka by 6 runs in the thrilling final at the Gangothri Glades Cricket Ground here Thursday.

The match went down the wire but Mumbai held their nerve to emerge victorious and clinch their 39th Ranji title.

Chasing 338 to win, six-time champions Karnataka were all out for 331 after Manish Pandey hit a scintilating 144 and Ganesh Satish made 75.

Manish Pandey, who got out for a duck in the first innings, fought back his side in the second innings. Manish Pandey's sectacular century pushed Karnataka close to the victory.

For Mumbai, veteran Ajit Agarkar was the best bowler with figures of five for 81.
