Gambhir's century puts India on top

Chittagong: Gautam Gambhir stroked his way to his 5th consecutive 100 in 5 Tests as India consolidated their advantage at lunch on day four of the first Test at the Zohur Ahmed Chowdhury stadium in Chittagong on Wednesday.

Resuming on 122 for one, India reached 259 for four after 54 overs, with Sachin Tendulkar on five and VVS Laxman on nine. The visitors now have an overall lead of 260 with six second innings wickets left.

Gambhir departed for 116 as he attempted a cut off a short and wide delivery but miscued it to third man, where Nafis made no mistake.

Night-watchman Amit Mishra continued to bat impressively, notching up his maiden Test fifty and adding 98 runs with Gambhir for the second wicket.
