Gambhir misses record, India on top

Dhaka: Gambhir and Sehwag completed half-centuries as India reached 177-2 in their first innings at lunch in reply to Bangladesh's 233 on the second day of the second Test here on Monday.

Rahul Dravid was unbeaten on 33 at the interval with Sachin Tendulkar (13).

Left-handed opener Gambhir, aiming to equal Australian Don Bradman's world record of scoring a century in six successive Tests, was caught behind for 68.

Gambhir, who was on 26 in his team's overnight total of 69 for no loss, hit nine fours in his solid 83-ball knock for his 11th half-century in 29 Tests.
