Melbourne: West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has been ruled out of the Twenty20 games and the upcoming five game ODI series against Australia due to a thumb injury.

Bravo has failed to recover sufficiently from the injury, which he sustained when he was hit on the hand while batting for Victoria against Tasmania in the Big Bash competition on January 15.

West Indies officials said that the 26-year-old will return home, and has been replaced by opening batsman Wavell Hinds.

“His thumb has not recovered and we will bring Wavell Hinds into the squad as his replacement," The Courier Mail quoted a team spokesman, as saying.

Bravo is expected to return in time for Zimbabwe''s tour of the Windies later this month.

The Windies are already without Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Fidel Edwards, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Jerome Taylor, Daren Bravo and the suspended Sulieman Benn.
