England clinch the super eight opener

Bridgetown: England thrashed Pakistan in the Super Eight opener by 6 wickets in he Gropu E match of ICC Twenty20 World Cup here on Thursday in Kensington Oval.

Earlier, A brilliant bowling display from England after electing to field helps to restrict Pakistan to a modest target of 147 for the loss of nine wickets.

Salman Butt (34 from 26 balls) and Umar Akmal (30 from 26 balls) the only cricketers who scored the reasonable runs in Pakistan's innings.

Michael Yardy (2-19) and Stuart Broad (2-25) both impressed with the ball.

Kevin Pietersen was adjudged as Man of the Match.

England will take on South Africa on Saturday at the same ground as a part of England's second match in Super Eight.
