Dubai: Newly added Kochi franchise to the Indian Premier League is keen to add former Australian captain Steve Waugh as a advisor in its technical consultant team.
The chairman of the Dubai—based Kochi IPL franchise, Harshad Mehta met Waugh ealier this month to discuss the issue with him.
A National daily report suggests that the discussions are at an advanced stage for Waugh to spearhead the team in next season in IPL which comprises of 10 teams.
While speaking to the daily Mehta told, “We are trying to get Steve Waugh to be a part of the team. Waugh will be given a top position in the team with two layers of people below him,"

Talking furthur on the lookout of the team Mehta said they are trying to lure Mahela Jayawardene, the Sri Lanka batsman and leading scorer so far in the ongoing Twenty20 World Cup in the West Indies, to join the Kerala team next season.
He also pointed out that Shanthakumaran Sreesanth, fast bowler from Kerala has more or less agreed to join the Kerala team.
The name of the team , Manager and the lookout of the squad will be announced next month, he added
