WICB to shift venues

Kingston: Continued violence in trouble hit Jamaica might force WICB to shift the final ODI and the first Test against South Africa from Kingston.

"The WICB (West Indies Cricket Board) is monitoring the situation in Jamaica and is discussing it with the major stakeholders and will take a decision (on whether to move the matches) in the coming days," a spokesperson of the WICB said earlier on Monday.

The final ODI is scheduled to be played on June 3 and the test match is scheduled to be played on June 10-14.

State authorities in Jamaica had declared a state of emergency in two parishes of Kingston on Sunday after shooting and firebomb attacks on police stations by
suspected supporters of an alleged drug lord who faces extradition to the United States, agency reports stated.

Earlier, gunmen reportedly fired on police stations and set fire to another injuring a man in police uniform.
