Mumbai: New India Skipper Suresh Raina has said that the absence of the senior players will give a splendid opportunity to the youngsters to make a mark in the international arena.
India will be playing tri-series and two bilateral Twenty20 matches against Zimbabwe.
"We have to thank the seniors who have taken a rest and it has given a great opportunity for the youngsters to do well. We have a good bench and all of them have done well in domestic cricket," said the 23-year-old, who is yet to play in a Test match, ahead of the team's departure here.
Raina pointed out that it will be a good opportunity for young seamers in Zimbabwe as the conditions out there favor the seamers and at the same time it will be a good test for the batsmen as well.
"We have some very good medium pacers. Umesh Yadav, Vinay Kumar and Ashok Dinda have done well in domestic cricket to earn their place in the side," Raina told the Telegraph ahead of the team's departure.
The Indians batsmen have always had problem playing in bouncy conditions and the batsmen during the T20 World Cup in the West Indies.
Saying that test cricket and one day international format of the game is different than T20, the captain is confident about bringing a better performance during the tour.
"It's going to be an exciting series. We have a well-balanced team. We have lot of good batsmen who have done well in first class cricket and in IPL. We have a good medium pace attack and good set of all-rounders. We will win the series if we work hard," he said.
