Afridi doesn't want Malik in the side

Karachi: Sources in Pakistan say that captain Shahid Afridi doesn't want Shoaib Malik back in the side for the Asia Cup as he feels he would create disharmony in the side.

Malik has been shortlisted in the 35 man probables for the Asia Cup and the tour to England but Afridi is one who is not keen to have him back in the Pakistan side.

Shahid Afridi had earlier said that he is in no mood to tolerate any politics inside the dressing room, and had said that those making the atmosphere 'dirty" would be kicked out of the team.

According to sources, there are others besides Afridi including some board officials and selectors who feel that inclusion of Malik would surely bring about disharmony in the side.

The source said that Afridi did not push for Malik as much as he did for Mohammad Yousuf and Younis Khan to be in the team for the Asia Cup.

Malik was considered to be the main person who had created infighting during Pakistan's disastraous tour of Australia in which they lost all the matches and several players were banned by the PCB following the tour.

Malik, who recently got married to Indian tennis star Sania Mirza, was banned for 12-months and fined Rs two million by the inquiry committee but he has appealed against the punishment.

Meanwhile, Malik said that he just wanted to play for Pakistan and he had no cause to create disharmony in the team.
