Bulawayo: Zimbabwe overhauled India by six wickets with 10 balls to spare to give the tri-nations one-day series with Sri Lanka a surprising opening on Friday.
Rohit Sharma hit a measured 114 to form the backbone of India's total of 285 for five but Taylor made 81 and Ervine 67 not out as the hosts chased down their target with 10 balls to spare.
Earlier, Rohit Sharma hit his first century as India posted a score of 285 in their full quota of 50 overs. After a rather shaky start stylish batsmen Rohit Sharma along with left-hander Ravindra Jadeja posted a 132 run partnership helping India reach a rather testing total.
India struggled early on with Murali Vijay caught short of his crease for 11 runs. Virat Kholi coming at number three followed him soon and then Dinesh Karthik, opening the batting for India scored 22 of 39 ball with 2 boundaries before his innings was cut short by Prosper Utseya.

Then captain Suresh Raina and Rohit Sharma hit a rebuilding partnership as they managed to put together 67 runs for the 5th wicket.
Rohit Sharma in the first half of his innings was off to a slow start, picking up a lot of singles and two's and after he reached his half century he started to accelerate and he hit 5 fours and 4 sixes after reaching his half century to go on an make and make an excellent century for the tourist especially under the circumstances where India were really struggling and losing wickets at regular intervals.
Ravindra Jadeja who was a surprise choice before the start of the match managed to answer his critics with a fine half century, in the process partnering Sharma to give over 100 runs stand for 6th wicket. He hit a run-a-ball 61 with 6 boundaries in his innings
For the home side Chris Mpofu picked up 2 wickets but was rather expensive giving away 63 runs while former captain/all-rounder Prosper Utseya picket up 1 wicket giving away 46 runs in their full quota of 10 overs.
