Cook out due to injury

England lions caption and Test Alastair Cook has been ruled out of his second successive triangular series match because of a back injury.

Cook who led the English side during England's tour of Bangladesh for one-day series has already had to sit out the victory over India A at Leicester on Thursday.

According to Skysports report, the Wales and England cricket board have announced that Cook's problem needs further monitoring and he will therefore miss the match against West Indies A at Worcester, and a decision on his continued involvement is expected "early next week".

The 25-year-old was left out of the squad against the Australians which has just concluded, as well as the one named to face Bangladesh in three more one-day internationals.

He is likely to recover fully and be appointed when England play Pakistan in a four test-match series which begins at Trent Bridge at the end of this month.

This is the second time that Cook has been troubled by his back problem. He had earlier missed the one-day international series of England's tour of South Africa for similar reasons last autumn.
