Gambhir out of final Test match

Indian Opener Gautam Gambhir has been ruled out of the third and final Test match against hosts Sri Lanka starting on Tuesday at the P Sara Oval, Colombo.

Gambhir had missed the second Test match after sustaining a knee injury during a practice session and was tipped to make a return in the final Test match.

Murali Vijay played in the last Test match as his replacement and is set to play again alongside Virender Sehwag who has been in terrific form ahead of the final Test match as India look to level the series.

The ground is famous for Sri Lanka's first ever Test - against England in 1982. The venue also registered Sri Lanka's first ever Test triumph - against India.

Sri Lanka have won the last five Tests contested at this venue (since 2005) - two against Bangladesh and one each against South Africa, India and Pakistan.

India have played three Tests at this venue, losing two while the remaining one could not produce a result.

India will have to ball well, if they want to win the match as the bowling department has struggled big time in the first two Test matches.
