Sri Lankan paceman Farveez Maharoof said he was really disappointed of not being picked in the Sri Lankan tri-series squad, despite a good show in recent Asia Cup, a five-wicket haul and a hat-trick against India in the Asia Cup.
The Sri Lankan all-rounder wants to know the reason why he was ignored from the selectors.
He was making a comeback in the Asia Cup after a long injury lay-off and had play a key role for the Islanders in the tournament.
“I"m really disappointed, I don"t know what happened but I can say that it hurt me a lot. I want to know the reasons behind my exclusion," Maharoof said.
“Nobody called me to inform why I was not included in the team."
Apparently, the selectors had ignored Maharoof taking into consideration the Dambulla track, which always assists the spinners.
“Nobody has talked to me on this subject. I performed well in the last three ODI matches. I did well even in the practice matches against New Zealand. So, I really don"t know what the reason behind my exclusion from the side was. But I have confidence that I will be back in the team soon," Maharoof said.
