Dambullah: In a development that adds further insult to the injury owing to the humiliating defeat against New Zealand in the first ODIs of the tri-series, India has slipped to the third spot on the ICC ODI rankings.
New Zealand thrashed India by a 200 run margin in the ODI on Tuesday, Aug 10 at the Dambulla International Stadium.
The Kiwis have now moved up to the number 2 spot while the Aussies continue to lead the charts.
However, if New Zealand wants to hold on to the spot, the team has to beat Sri Lanka in their second encounter.
Sri Lanka, on the other hand, also has a chance to move up to number 2 spot if it manages to win all their group games.
As for India, if it fails to win even a single match in the ongoing tri-series in Sri Lanka, it faces the threat of slipping further down to 6th spot.
