Injury is killing the Indian talent

Just when we thought India are invincible for now and they seem to be ahead of most cricketing nations to claim the World Cup next year in the sub-continent, Dhoni's men produce such cricket that all the promise disappears in thin air.

If we look at the Indian batting credentials, India has a bunch of very talented youngsters, the likes of Raina, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kholi fighting for a place in playing XI. It is so talented that the team ought to be a let off and waste it.

Theoretically, India surely stand a strong chance to lift the Cup playing in home conditions. And their key batsman Sachin Tendulkar has been in the form of his life at the moment and the youngsters have been stepping up and meeting the challenge as well.
However, Indian players has been plagued by injuries very often, about nine players are technically injured at the moment and fitness seems to be very important ahead of the big tournament next year.

Particularly in the bowling department, India has missed the services of Zaheer Khan, S Sreeshant, R P Singh, latest Ishant Sharma who have all been sidelined due to injury and it's a big concern for the Indians. The Indians have not had the luxury to fit in their bowlers. Like the opening batsmen combination of Gambhir, Sehwag or Murali Vijay sharing the spot on a regular basis, similarly for the bowling line up the Indians have not had a chance to get along with a good combination which is a 'key' for any strong team.

Like England has the likes of Anderson, Broad and Finn. India counts no one to say. One odd occasion, it is Ishant who is the lone man, or Zaheer who is the lone man on other occasions. Similarly if we see Pakistan team, the team has had a similar crisis. Just when we thought, Aamir, Asif and Gul will be a splendid combo ahead of the World Cup, you never know who will end up representing the country when the World Cup finally gets started. Gul has sustained an injury again and will possibly miss a match or two.

Blame it on tight schedules, the IPL or other reasons the players have to be carefully picked based on their fitness.

Just like Brazil and Netherlands in the Fifa World Cup played Kaka and Robben respectively even though the doctors had revealed that the players were not fully fit for the big tournament. The Indians cannot risk to enter the tournament with unfit players as this is probably their best chance to lift the World Cup and repeat India's 1983 feat under Kapil Dev's captaincy.

The team management has asked the BCCI to look into this matter and it is high time the BCCI care about the players and their future. Whether by means of canceling tours or reducing the number of matches, the BCCI has to fix a solution very soon for the players.
