India and SL clash in the finals

Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni will be eyeing to lift his fifth ODI series in the Island nation, against Sri Lanka in the Micromax Tri-series finals in Dambulla.

Leading into the finals, the tournament has been a tough fight for all the three teams and the qualification for the finals was only decided in the last preliminary match where India's Virender Sehwag came on his own with a delightful knock and later the Indian seamers helped the team beat the Kiwis and knock them out.

Most of the players from all the three teams have struggled with their batting in the Dambulla strip. The start is going to be crucial for both India and Sri Lanka as the top order batsmen have failed to take charge in the first opening 10 overs. Either of the team, who starts well has a strong chance of running away with the Micromax Cup.

For the Indians, Dhoni will be hoping that the youngsters will come to light in the finals as his team has been hugely dependent on their opener Virender Sehwag. If Sehwag fails to click India is likely to suffer. Dhoni and team management is also likely to be confused about Rohit Sharma and Virat Kholi, as to whom to hand over that final batting spot ahead of the finals. Both the youngsters have failed miserably and it's a big concern for the skipper ahead of the finals.

Yuvraj Singh will be hoping to forget his rash shot which lead to his dismissal in the match against the Kiwis, and produce a big innings leading into the finals. The left-hander has had a dip of runs in the last year or so.

The Sri Lankan team on the other hand after a series of controversies behind them came back strongly to defeat Indian in their last clash. Kumar Sangakkara and his men will be hoping to repeat the feat and deny Dhoni's record.

Their bowlers have done well but like the other two teams, their batting has struggled as well. They will be highly dependent on Mahela Jayawardene and the captain himself. The two are the most experienced duo in the team and will be keen to lift the Micromax Cup ahead of the World Cup next year.

Thisara Perera making a return in the international cricket was superb in the last match. The ever fearsome Lasith Malinga has been outstanding throughout the Test series and the ODI tri-series and he will be hoping to clean the Indian batting and help Sri Lanka win the finals.
