A blistering 78-run knock by skipper Michael Klinger helped South Australia Redbacks defeat African side Highveld Lions by 11 runs on Sunday.
Having being asked to bat first, Redbacks skipper Klinger hit those runs in just 48 deliveries, as his side set a challenging score of 178 for six in their 20 overs. He shared a superb 97-run partnership from just 57 balls with Callum Ferguson who chipped in with 47 runs.
The confident Lions team coming out to chase down the target got off to a worst possible start losing man-in-form Vandiar in the fourth ball of their innings.
Paceman Shaun Tait bowled Jonathan Vandiar, who was instrumental in the previous match against Mumbai Indians.
But captain Alviro Petersen took charge of situation and hit a magnificent half century which included seven fours and one six, and the Lions looked good halfway through their innings at 90/3. However, Daniel Christian got the crucial wicket of Petersen, and the Lions lost momentum.
The Lions finally ended with 167/8, 12 runs short of the target.
