Bangladesh batsman Tanim Iqbal has been ruled out of the squad for the upcoming series against New Zealand at home due to injury.
Tanim underwent a wrist surgery on Monday afternoon which will keep him out of the series against the Kiwis according to the Bangladesh Cricket Board(BCB).
"Tamim underwent successful surgery to remove bone fragments from the base of his left third metacarpal in Melbourne, Australia on Monday afternoon," the BCB said in a statement.
Along with Tamim, Bangladesh have also omitted former captain Mohammad Ashraful from the squad who has had a poor run of form in the last one year or so, Opener Shahriar Nafees has been called up after a gap of two years to fill Tanim's spot.
New Zealand are scheduled to play five one-dayers against their hosts, all at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka starting October 5.
