Bushrangers defeat Stags by 7 wkts

Centurion: Aaron Finch led the Victorian Bushrangers to a seven-wicket victory over the Central Districts Stags in their Champions League match at SuperSport Park in Centurion on Wednesday.

Chasing a target of 166 for victory, Finch was exceptional and kept his calm throughout the chase. Even when the required run rate grew over 12, he made sure he stayed till the end to give the Australian Champions their first win in the Champions League this season. Finch scored 93 off just 60 balls steering the Bushrangers home with 2 balls to spare.

Central Stags did miss a chance to dismiss Finch. When Finch was batting on 43, left-arm spinner George Worker failed to take a return catch off his own bowling. It proved to be a crucial miss as the left-hander went on to seal the match for Bushrangers.

Earlier, Central Stags had recovered to make a testing score of 165/5 in their 20 overs. Captain Jamie How was instrumental in their innings and had scored 77* off just 55 balls to help Stags reach 165. They had got off to a worst possible start losing three wickets within the first six overs. But How was exceptional and anchored the innings for the New Zealand side. Worker helped How to get the innings going with a useful contribution of 29 runs.

Diamanti then coming in at No 6 had chipped in with 19 runs off just 11 balls and shared a crucial partnership off 66 runs with How at the other end.
