Durban: South Australia booked their place in the semi-finals with a commanding win over Royal Challengers Bangalore by eight-wickets in their Group B clash in the Champions League T20 at Durban.
South Australia bowlers came out with a disciplined bowling display to restrict the Bangalore side to 154 in 19.5 overs. Daniel Christian was the pick of the bowlers as he picked up four wickets conceding 23 runs in 3.5 overs. Shaun Tait was exceptional as well picking up two Royal Challengers top order batsmen and conceding 23 runs in his spell of four overs.
Batting first, Royal Challengers Bangalore got off to a dreadful start losing two quick wickets. Ross Taylor however, was excellent and held the innings together scoring 48 runs off 28 balls. Then Dillon du Preez down the order played a crucial innings as well scoring 46 invaluable runs off 25 balls which included 4 sixes and a boundary. Cameron White chipped in with 25 useful runs off 29 balls as well.
Chasing a rather modest total, the Redbacks got off to a terrific start with skipper Michael Klinger and Daniel Harris playing some delightful strokes and putting together 124 runs for the first wicket.
Both the batsman had played a terrific innings in their previous match against Mumbai Indians. The duo again proved their mettle as Bangalore Royal Challengers bowlers had no answers to their strokeplay. Infact the first wicket partnership was broken through a run out. An unlikely understanding between Harris and Klinger led to the downfall of Harris.
Klinger scored an unbeaten 69 off 57 balls with the help of nine fours and a six, while Harris came out with a brilliant 57 off 38 balls.
Redbacks eventually finished off the match with the loss of two wickets and 9 balls to spare.
