Victoria win CSK in Super Over

Port Elizabeth: In a tightly contested match, Victorian Bushrangers edged past Chennai Super Kings in a game which was tied and had to be decided by a super over in their Group A clash in the Champions League T20 at Port Elizabeth.

After winning the toss, Chennai Super Kings elected to bat and posted a challenging score of 162/6. Murali Vijay was excellent at the top of the order scoring 73 runs off just 53 balls.

Michael Hussey who was called in for out-of-form Matthew Hayden scored 25 runs off 28 balls, while Dhoni contributed 22 runs in the total. For Bushrangers, Clint McKay and John Hastings took two wickets each.

Chasing a victory target of 163, the Victorian Bushrangers got off to a superb start after a dynamic strokeplay by Aaron Finch(41 off 17 balls).  He was hitting the ball cleanly and was finding the boundaries with ease before being tricked by spinner R Ashwin.

Then Matthew Wade(31 off 23) and David Hussey(51 off 45) put on a solid third wicket stand of 55 runs and at that point of play, the Victorian Bushrangers were cruising along nicely towards the victory margin.
However, Raina and Bollinger pulled back the CSK in the game with important breakthroughs on a regular basis.

Requiring 12 runs in their final over, with three wickets remaining Raina was taken for six in the very first ball. However, Raina picked up two wickets in the next two deliveries to bring CSK back in the contest.

Eventually he conceded 11 runs and the scores were level and the match had to be taken till super over stage for the first time in the League.

In the Super over, Dhoni made a bold decision choosing spinner R Ashwin to deliver the important over. But, Dhoni's choice turned out to be a wrong one as Ashwin conceded 23 runs in the over. David Hussey smashed three sixes for the Victorian side.

Chasing a rather stiff 24 off 6 balls was a tough ask for CSK. Murali Vijay and Suresh Raina who were sent to bat just managed 13 runs.

It was a crucial win for the Bushrangers as they are still in the hunt for the semi-final spot.
