Indian middle order batsman Yuvraj Singh has been dropped from the Indian Test team to play against Australia starting next month.
Yuvraj who has been struggling for form and fitness in the past year or so has done nothing in the interregnum to prove to the selectors that he has overcome both. He has instead been asked to lead the Ranji team by the selection committee.
Meanwhile, the selectotrs have included Saurashtra player Cheteshwar Pujara in the squad as expected and he is the only new face in the squad. Pace bowler, S Sreesanth has been recalled in the side as well.
Opener Gautam Gambhir, spinner Harbhajan Singh and paceman Zaheer Khan return to squad after recovering from injuries.
