Australian Redbacks beats Guyana

Johannesburg, Sep 22: The South Australians Redbacks defeated Guyana by 15 runs to finish as the group B champions with fourth consecutive win in their last group stage matches at the Wanderers Stadium on Tuesday, Sep 21.

Redbacks started their innings with poor performance of three wickets for 41 runs. But Callum Ferguson played a crutial role with 55 runs and added 88 for the fourth wicket with Cameron Borgas (48). Redbacks managed to score 191 for six wickets.

In reply, Guyana made only 176 for seven wickets, in which captain Ramnaresh Sarwan scored 70 runs. Guyana finished the tournament with four defeats from four matches but showed a competittve match againt Redbacks.

Redbacks, place in the semi already confirmed, played to keep their winning momentum going and Guyana tried to salvage some pride before catching an early fight home. Captain Sarwan told that it was unfortunate to that they couldn't do it throughout the tournament.

Redbacks will play semi final against the group A winners at Centurion on Saturday, Sep 25. Captain Michael Klinger told it was an advantage because they can remain based in Johannesburg for the semi final match.
