Johanesburg, Sep 22: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) smashed Highveld Lions by 6 wickets to march into the semi-finals of the Champions League Twenty20, 2010.
Even though they did not have the advantage of winning the toss, the RCB put up a brilliant show at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.
While the Lions, who opted to bat first scored 159 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the all 20 overs game, the Bangalore team score 160 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 19 overs game - courtesy Virat Kohli.
Kohli looked at the top of the game on Tuesday, Sep 21 as blazed a 29-ball 49. He pocketed 2 sixes and 4 fours to take RCB into the semifinals.
“We knew that all we needed was one big over, what Virat could not achieve against Mumbai, he did it today," Anil Kumble said after the match.
Manish Pandey and Rahul Dravid were the other stars of the RCB victory.
Alviro Petersen shone for the Lions as he quick fired 45, even against the bowling of Anil Kumble.
“Vinay started off well with the ball, Virat and myself bowled some good middle overs and Steyn bowled well at the death," said Kumable, who conceded just 13 runs in 4 overs.
“Very happy that we made it to the semi finals, it is one step away now. It will be nice to meet any team in the semis but it will be nice to meet Chennai there," he added.
