Chennai beats Warriors, both enter semis

Port Elizabeth, Sep 23: Chennai Super Kings enterd to the semi finals of Champions League Twenty20 by defeating Warriors by 10 runs on Wednesday, Sep 22.

Batting first, Chennai scored 136 for six and Warriors in return managed to score only 126 for eight. Even though Warriors lost the match, they too have qualified for semis, pipping Victoria Bushrangers on net run rate.
In semi-finals, Chennai will face Bangalore Royal Challengers and Warriors will meet Redbacks.

Chennai started their innings firmly with openers Mike Hussey (50 off 39) and Murali Vijay (35 off 27) adding a 63 run partnership. After their dismissal, most of the middle order batsmen failed settle to score a huge total.But in last overs, skipper Dhoni took the responsibility on his own shoulders and managed to score respectable total for them. In the 19th over Dhoni struck Lonwabo Tsotsobe for two boundaries and a massive six to pick up 17 runs. Their innings came to an end with 136 for six in 20 overs.

Chasing the modest 137, Warriors needed 109 to book their place in the semis and they finally went on to score 126 for eight. Justin Kreusch scored valuable 25 runs and he also bagged three wickets for 19 to rap up Chennai for 137.

The Chennai spinners played a crutial role in the victory by claiming six of the eight wickets to fall. Spinners Ashwin took 3 wickets, Muralitharan 2 and Raina 1.
