CSK march into the CLT20 finals

Durban: Suresh Raina's terrific 48-ball 94 knock, followed by a clinical bowling display helped Chennai Super Kings win against Royal Challengers Bangalore and march into the finals of the Champions League T20, 2010.

The match was delayed at start due to rain and was reduced to 17 overs per side. Opting to bat first the team from Chennai lost Michael Hussey in the fourth over of their innings. He was caught brilliantly by Dale Steyn but the latter was injured in the process and was ruled out of the match.

Murali Vijay and Raina then dominated the proceedings and was spanking the weakened Challengers bowlers at ease. The duo shared a solid stand of 81 runs for the second wicket before Vijay was dismissed by Vinay Kumar. Raina however continued to dominate the proceedings ending up with unbeaten 94 which included a total of 5 fours and 6 sixes. The CSK side eventually ended up with 174/4 in their allotted 17 overs.

Vinay Kumar was the pick of the bowlers for the RCB with 2 wickets in his four overs. Anil Kumble with his experience was the other bowler who was managing to contain them and keep it tight but he had no support from the other end. The Challengers were sloppy in the field as well conceding 17 extra runs and dropping many chances.

Chasing 175 to win, RCB got off to a disastrous start possible losing Dravid, Uthappa and Ross Taylor very early in the innings. Albie Morkel and Dough Bollinger were superb with their line and length in the initial stages giving no chance for the RCB players to free their arms.

Opener Manish Pandey(52 off 44 balls) was the lone man who played a valiant innings to score a half century but the target was too stiff to chase. After early collapse, the RCB never really looked to be in the contest as the asking rate was magnifying with every over.

The RCB just managed to fetch 123 runs with the fall of 9 wickets in 16.2 overs. Dough Bollinger was amongst the wickets ending with 3 wickets in his spell of 3 overs. Spin-wizard Muralitharan picked up two scalps.
