Bangalore: Malnad Gladiators recorded their fourth victory in the Mantri KPL 2010, with a 21-run win against Bangalore Brigadiers on Monday.

The KPL finally got some international players for the first time this season in the form of Robin Uthappa and A Mithun returning for Brigadiers and Gladiators respectively.

The Gladiators were asked to bat first by incoming captain Robin Uthappa. They were 29/0 in three overs before rain interrupted play. The match was shortened to 13 over a side because of loss of time. On resumption of play TK Ananth for Brigadiers bowled a superb spell to dismiss both the Gladiator openers who were playing some good stokes, with a very good run-rate.

Captain Ganesh Satish coming in at No. 4 then took charge od the situation and hit some brilliant strokes to take the Gladiators past 100. The Gladiators eventually finished with 109/3 in their 13 overs.

Chasing 110 from 13 overs, Brigadiers got off to a worst possible start losing early wickets. They never recovered after the early blow and kept on losing wickets at regular intervals and eventully finished with 89 all out after 12 overs. Robin Uthappa could not make any impact for the Brigadiers as he fell cheaply for five.

Only two Brigadier batsman managed double digit scores.

Malnad Gladiators are currently placed at second place in the KPL 2010 table and are still looking to book a spot in the semi-finals spot. Bangalore Brigadiers are struggling big time and are placed last in the KPL 2010 standings with five losses out of six games.
