Indian middle order batsman, VVS Laxman, might not be take further participation in the ongoing first Test in Mohali due to his back injury.
Due to severe pain back pain, Laxman was unable to come out and bat in his usual batting slot and came to bat at number 10 during India's first innings accompanied by his runner Gautam Gambhir.
He was the last man to be dismissed in India's first innings after manging just two runs.
"Laxman has severe back spasms. He has undergone treatment throughout the day. He was not in a position to bat but still showed lot of guts to come out and bat.
"We are still not sure whether he will be able to field tomorrow. We will only take a call Monday morning," team official Mayank Parikh told PTI.
It is for the second time that Indian team management is troubled by injury problems in the first Test as Ishant Sharma had also suffered a hamstring injury earlier.
Laxman's back has troubled him since the tour of Sri Lanka.
With the Aussie taking a lead in the first innings, they are likely to post a challenging fourth innings total for the Indians and Laxman's injury is a big concern for the home team.
