Indian Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who bagged the ICC Test team captain of the year, lauded the entire Indian camp for their consistent performance in the past few years at the Annual ICC Awards night in Bangalore on Wednesday.
Dhoni was also very pleased with their latest win against Australia in the on going Border-Gavaskar trophy.
"It is a real pleasure to captain the best Test team in the world. We have played consistent cricket for the last one-and-half-years, during which we have also battled through injuries," Dhoni said after receiving the award.
There was also a bit of concern showed by Dhoni regarding the injuries that has troubled some of the key players in the team.
"Most of the players even in the current side have got major or minor niggles and yet, we are playing good cricket. Although he also added," I feel, I have got a tremendous side that has the grit and determination to do well for the country. That makes me feel proud,"
The praises kept coming as the Skipper applauded the combined efforts of a very determined VVS Laxman who stood his ground even with a dodgy back that could have given out any time and Ishant Sharma who proved to be more than a mere tailender.
Adding a bit of humor while going back to the tensed last moments of the Mohali Test Dhoni said, " The dressing room was filled with superstitions. We there were contributing our best through superstitions".
"I am glad that I was part of a Test Match that will go into the history as one of the great Test matches that has ever been played," Dhoni stated.
