Rain plays spoilsport in Dhaka

The playing conditions in Dhaka, where the match was scheduled to be held, was declared unplayable as the weather showed no signs of improvement.

Match officials held a final pitch inspection at 11am local time but it quickly became clear that the match could not go ahead.

In the first ODI, the home side had come up with a fighting performance to beat the Kiwis by 9 runs according to Duckworth-Lewis method.
A superb all-round show by Shakib Al Hasan had helped Bangladesh secure a major win over New Zealand in the 1st ODI to lead the five-match series by 1-0 at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur.

The third ODI is due to take place in Mirpur on Monday.
