London : Jonathan Trott England's middle order batsman stated that the upcoming Ashes series will definately help cricket to make headlines for the right reasons.
These thoughts came from Trott as the Ashes is round the corner after a dramatic series against Pakistan.
England came out victorious in all the three formats but the entire series was engulfed with match fixing allegations concerning the Pakistani players which was not a pretty site.
Trott himself was in lime lite during the series for his not that pleasant confrontation with Pakistan's Wahab Riaz.
Although, the series is eventually over and Trott is happy to have some rest before the intense Ashes battle begins later this month.
"At the end of the day England played the games and won the one-day series against Pakistan, but I think that everyone was pleased to see a long summer of cricket come to an end," The Sun quoted Trott saying.
Trot also expressed that the break before the Ashes is good for the build up of excitement for both the fans and the players before the contest. He also added that the Ashes will indeed bring back the game of cricket on headlines for the right reasons.
"There is now a break before the Ashes and that gives people time to be starved of cricket a bit and get ready for an exciting series.
Supporters will have had a break and the players will have had the chance to recharge batteries ready to crack on," he said.
"I am pretty confident cricket will be in the headlines for the right reasons and the Ashes will restore the dignity of the way the game is
played, why its such a special game and what the Ashes is all about and the history behind it," Trott added.
