The Global Cricket Academy was launched by the International Cricket Council at Dubai Sports City.
The academy will reproduce a variety of pitch types, that will be a replica of the conditions of the playing surface conditions of the UK, Asian sub-continent and Australia.
An ICC report states, "The work involves importing specific types of clay, soil and turf using varying preparation and agronomic practices to replicate the characteristics of each surface,"
The President of the International Cricket Council Sharad Pawar at the launch of this innovative step by ICC stated that the academy will be a guide for the current as well as the emerging players on the international scenario to take their game on to a different level with much more to offer.
"With its state-of-the-art programmes, facilities and coaches, the ICC GCA will provide a home for a wide range of our stakeholders from both the traditional Full Members and the developing Associate and Affiliate Members," Pawar added.
ICC Vice President Alan Isaac and CEO Haroon Lorgat were also present at this launch event.
