Star Players Rested for ODI Series

India without top players in ODI

India's star opener Virender Sehwag has been ruled out of the upcoming ODI series against the Aussies following an injury, reports also say that master blaster Sachin Tendulkar, spin twins Harbhajan Singh and Pragyan Ojha and pace spear head Zaheer Khan have also been rested for the series.

Sehwag is being suspected to have sustained a shoulder injury and has to be dropped from the ODI series.

Earlier his co-opener Gautam Gambhir was already ruled out of the squad following an injury during the test series. Ishant Sharma is also reported to be miss the series against the Aussies.

The Indian opening spot will be shared by two fresh faces in the form of Murali VIjay and Shikhar Dhawan.

Vijay fresh from a great maiden test ton against the Aussies in the bangalore Test will share the opening spot with Shikhar Dhawan.

In the 52 first class matches that Dhawan has played he has an impressive average of 45.79 with 3526 runs to his credit, along with this Dhawan ha also taken up the responsibility to open the batting for Mumbai Indians in the IPL.

Vinay Kumar makes it into the squad in place of Zaheer Khan to strengthen the Indian pace attack along with vetrans like Ashish Nehra,Munaf Patel and Prveen Kumar.

R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja will lead the Indian spin attack against the Aussies in the absence of the experienced harbhajan and Ojha.Ashwin was in the lime light for the Chennai Super Kings in the recently concluded Chamipons League where the team was victorious.

Dhoni remains the lone wicket keeper in the squad Dinesh Karthik was not included for the three match ODI series that is to be played from 17th till 24th October.

The stylish Left hander Yuvraj Singh has also been included in the squad for the ODI series following a great run for the rest of India against Mumbai in the Irani Trophy.

Yuvraj after being dropped from the test side he went on to play for the Rest of India and score a magnificent double century.

BCCI secretary N Srinivasan after the meeting of the selection panel said,"Sachin Tendulkar, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan and Pragyan Ojha have been rested."

"Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir and Ishant Sharma are undergoing treatment for minor injuries, and have therefore not been included," he added.
