Visakhapatnam, Oct 20: After rain ruined the first ODI in Kochi, cricket fans in Vishakapatnam basked in the sunshine as they heard the news of the second ODI being held here on Wednesday, Oct 20.
Vishakapatnam, also known as Vizag immediately hit the headlines as tickets were sold out like hot cakes. Keeping up to the pre-match hype in terms of audience interest, the stadium was teeming with people not only from Vishakapatnam but also from across the country.
Sudheer Kumar, a fan from Bihar, who has not missed a single match of the Indian cricket team in the past eight years, told a news agency, “I have gone for the international matches on my bicycle. In 2007, I went to Bangladesh on my cycle to cheer for the Indian cricket team. I have also been to Pakistan on my cycle just to cheer for the Indian team."
“From 2002 till now, I have not miss a single cricket match that has taken place in India. I have seen 163 ODIs, 26 Test matches, four Twenty-20s and 29 IPL (Indian Premier League) matches," added Kumar, who now sports a haircut in the shape of the Indian flag.
Commenting on the match before the action kick started, Gokaraju Ganga, Secretary of the Andhra Cricket Team Association said, “The youngsters have got a good opportunity to exhibit their talent and I am sure they will do wonderful, and I am sure they will give a tough fight to Australia and they would be the winner."
