Hyderabad, Nov 9: New Zealand has recalled 30-year-old left-arm fast bowler James Franklin to replace injured Hamish Bennett for the ongoing Test series against India.
"New Zealand Cricket has advised that James Franklin has been called into the Blackcaps squad for the remainder of the Test series in India, replacing the injured Hamish Bennett," the NZC said in a statement.
The 23-year-old Bennett is being sent home for treatment on a groin strain picked up on the first day of the first Test which ended in a draw on Monday.
"Hamish is not available for the next test and unfortunately he'd be marginal for the third Test," Stuff.co.nz quoted coach Mark Greatbatch, as saying.
Bennett bowled 15 overs on teh frist day of the 5th, conceding 47 runs and going wicketless before being struck with his injury. Franklin has played 26 tests, taking 80 wickets at a decent average of 32.65. He has got 3 five-wicket-hauls and 6 four-wicket hauls with his best bowling in a match at 7/117.
New Zealand's second Test against India will be played in Hyderabad from November 12-16, while the third Test will be played in Nagpur from November 20-24. (ANI)
