Pak crush China in Asian Games QF

Guangzhou, Nov 22: Pakistan captain Khalid Latif smashed the first century of the Asian Games to crush China by 128 runs in Guangzhou to reach the semi-finals on Monday.

Latif scored an unbeaten 103 off 69 balls, which featured eight fours and five sixes, as Pakistan made 183-1 in their allotted 20 overs. Chasing the score, China never recovered from their precarious position of 11-4 as they failed to cope with Pakistan's fast bowlers.

China only managed to score 55 runs in their 20 overs for the loss of nine wickets. Only Li Jian reached double figures, making 14 with three fours. In the bowling department, Raza Hassan finished with the figures of 3-10, while Aizaz Cheema finished with 3-15. Latif was hopeful that his success at the Guangzhou Asian Games would help resurrect his international career.

"I wasn't expecting this. I played well in domestic matches and now here with the national team. I did well because the Chinese bowling was not good. I definitely hope that my performance here will help me get back into the national team," the News quoted the 24-year-old, as saying.
