After bowling spearhead Lasith Maranga was rested for the Tests against the West Indies,Sri Lanka's trump card Muttiah Muralitharan will sit out the upcoming one-day series against the same opponents. Rangana Herath, who had dazzled selectors, especially after taking four wickets against the Windies in the ongoing test, has earned a place in the side. He will have MUrali's big shoes to fill. Herath's fellow-spinner has also been
included in the ODI squad.
Meanwhile, Dammika Prasad and Dinesh Chandimal, who were part of the successful tour of Australia, were excluded. But Thilan Samaraweera has taken the batting spot left open by Chandimal's ouster.
The last three games of the five-match series are scheduled to be played at the newly revamped Premadasa Stadium in Colombo which, along with Hambantota and Pallekele, will host matches in the World Cup next year.
