Nerve-wracking news for India. Pace spearhead S Sreesanth might not be fit to play India's first Test agaisnt South Africa beginning on Thursday, Dec 16 at Centurion Park as he has apparently picked up an injury during a break of Tuesday's training session
Sreesanth reportedly hurt himself while playing a game of soccer and was seen hobbling off the field. While it has not yet been determined what the nature of the wound is and how severe it is, the injury scare is enough to dishearten the side as other premier fast bowler Zaheer Khan too is not in ship shape. Zaheer has been battling a recurring groin strain.
In the event that neither Zaheer nor Sreesanth will take the field tomorrow, the mantle will fall on a largely inexperienced Indian pace attack with uncapped speedster Jaidev Unadkat and Umesh Yadav entering the fray.
Sreesanth is one of the key component of India's bowling attack and was instrumental in India's only Test win in South Africa so far at Johannesburg in 2006, where he bowled a match winning spell.
