UDRS to make ODI debut in Aus-Eng series

Chris Woakes of England won't be the only one making his debut in England Vs Australia ODI series beginning Jan 16, 2011. The controversial Umpire Decision Review System (UDRS) will also be figuring in one-dayers for the very first time when the series kicks off at Melboure on Sunday.

The UDRS has so far on;y featured in Test matches and it was earlier decided that it would also be in use from the quarter-final stage of the 2011 World Cup to be held in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

However, the technology has not been entirely successful in mitigating on-field conflict as was witnessed during the fourth Ashes Test at Melbourne where Aussie captain Ricky Ponting clashes with the on-field umpire over a UDRS decision he had grave doubts about.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has been firmly against the UDRS, a stance which has not always gone down too well with the boards of other countries.
