Chairman of the BCCI selection committee Krishnamachari Srikkanth is confident that his panel has hit upon a dynamite combination in the 15-member squad chosen for the World Cup, saying that it "will do the job for us".
Speaking to reporters after the selection committee meeting, Srikkanth said the team was selected after considering a lot of things
"Various considerations were taken into account: the wicket condition, the opposition we are playing. Taking all this into account, I think we have selected a very well-balanced team," said the chief selector.
Srikkanth is quite confident that the Indian batting line-up will fire in the mega-event.
"I am confident that with the kind of balance that we have, the kind of batting lineup that we have, that this Indian team will do the job for us," said the former opening batsman, who was part of the 1983 World Cup winning team.
The 15-member squad was more or less on the expected lines, with the only surprise being leg-spinner Piyush Chawla who edged out Rohit Sharma for the last spot.
