There has been a pretty significant change in plans for the West Indies ODI tour of Sri Lanka beginning on Jan 31, 2011. While the dates for the three scheduled matches will remain the same, the venues have changed.
Originally, the matches were to take place at venues where World Cup 2011 matches were going to be played - Premadasa Stadium in Colombo and Hambantota . But ICC rules, according to Sri Lanka Cricket's media manager Brian Thomas, only allow teams to practice and not play international matches at World Cup venues just prior to the tournament.
"The World Cup venues for matches have been officially handed over to the ICC this month and ICC rules allow us to practice but not play until the World Cup starts," Thomas told AFP.
So now all three matches will be played at the SSC in Colombo. The fixtures are scheduled for Jan 31, Feb 3 and Feb 6. The ODIs were postponed to the end of January after rain had marred West Indies' Test series in Sri Lanka last year.
