Chennai, Feb 20: New Zealand romped home in their match again Kenya by 10 wickets. Kiwi openers Martin Guptill (39*)and Brendon McCullum (26*) had no problems whatsoever dealing with Kenyan pace bowlers Thomos Odoyo and Elijah Otieno as the batting duo raced to 72/0 in 8 overs. Earlier in the day, New Zealand shot out the Kenyans for a meagre 69 with Hamish Bennett rattling the top-order to take 4/16 before Oram and Southee pitched in with 3 wickets each.
Even though, New Zealand could well afford to take their time in overhauling Kenya's ridiculous total, the openers seemed to be in hurry. Guptill dispatched Odoyo to midwicket in the first over for a boundary. In the next over, the same batsman went after Otieno, smashing him for two consecutive boundaries as New Zealand climbed to 13/0 in 2 overs.
Guptill was on a roll, carting both pace-bowlers for a six each in subsequent overs, before McCullum got into the act and struck Odoyo for a four. Kenyan captain Jimmy Kamande brought himself on in the 5th over, but was straight away hammered for a four to midwicket by Guptill. Then t6eh batsman took as single to bring up the Kiwis' 50 in just 5.2 overs. Brendon MCCullum clobbered Kamande for three fours in the 8th over to finish off the match.
