Mumbai, Feb 22: Cricket fervour is truly on in India. Millions of fans attempted to purchase online tickets for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 finals but were left high and dry because the website couldn't handle the frenzy and eventually crashed before a ticket could be sold.
Kyazoonga.com the official website for online ticketing of the cricket World Cup, had an harrowing time on Feb 21 when millions thronged to the website to get their tickets out of the allotted 4000 for the general public. The website is reported to have said, that heavy traffic was expected but what eventually turned up was far more than what was originally anticipated.
The website later issued a statement saying that the ticket sale has been rescheduled and information regarding the same will follow at a later stage.
The situation though begs a question as to why an event of the magnitude of Cricket world cup finals was scheduled to be held at the Wankhede, Mumbai where the seating capacity is a notch above 33,000 when there are far bigger stadiums available. And even far more ridiculous is the fact that only 4000 tickets are available for the general public.
