Dhaka, March 25: Boosting their chances of forcing an upset against South Africa, New Zealand have won the toss and opted to bat first at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium at Dhaka.
This quarterfinal match of the World Cup 2011, as it turns out, is a rematch a group stage encounter in 2003, which New Zealand won quite convincingly with then Kiwi captain Stephen Fleming scoring an unbeaten ton.
South Africa are firm favourites to win this match and are expected to steamroll New Zealand. The former has topped Group B with 10 points from 5 wins and 1 loss, while New Zealand came fourth in Group A with 8 points from 4 wins and 2 losses.
The winner of this match will progress to the semi-final to play either Sri Lanka or England.
