Mohali, Mar 30: In the second semi-final of the World Cup 2011, at Mohali, India have won the all-important toss and not surprisingly have decided to bat first. (Scorecard), (Ball by Ball), (Commentary) (Pictures)

India win toss, elect to bat

Although Mohali is known to have a strip that largely favours batting, a fair bit of rain on the eve of this clash has left the pitch a little moist and perhaps conducive for seam bowling.

Perhaps playing on the mind of Indian captain M S Dhoni is the fact that in India's last encounter against Pakistan at this ground (which was in 2007), the home side scored a mammoth 322, only to end up losing the match by 3 wickets.

Contrary to expectations, veteran Pakistani paceman Shoiab Akhtar will not be playing today's match. Fans have been eagerly anticipating a Shoib-Sachin clash which won't be taking place now. In the Indian side, Ashish Nehra comes in for R Ahwin.
