Mumbai, April 01: It can't get any rude for Ashish Nehra who wowed the entire nation in the game against Pakistan. The lanky Indian speedster is seriously injured and is unlikely to play in the finals.
Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, on April 1 informed, "Ashish is most certainly out of the final because he has multiple fractures on a finger in the right hand." The facture occurred when Nehra, otherwise not a swift mover on the field, dived forward to get hold of a catch offered by Shahid Afridi and in the process injured his finger.
The ball was dropping on him and despite his stupendous effort, it still landed centimetres ahead of him and lobbed straight to Nehra's outstretched palms. Nehra, was the butt of all jokes in India after his disappointing performance against South Africa, bowled superbly in the game against Pakistan and was the peak of all Indian bowlers.
Meanwhile Dhoni also informed that left-handed batsman Gautam Gambhir, who left the field in the match against Pakistan due to a hamstring injury is fit and will be playing the final against Sri Lanka on April 2 at Wankhede.
The Indian skipper alos kept his cards close to his chest and didn't reveal the bowler's who would replace Nehra in the playing XI. "The Mumbai wicket usually has a bit of bounce and a third seamer gives me the option to manoevure the attack..But if we feel there could be turn in the wicket as the game progresses, Ashwin will come into the picture. It helps to have such good options."
